I gave my laptop a 1.1.1.0 and my PC a 1.1.1.1 address so I could share some files and when I booted back up it asked me for user name and password. I put in my password for my work domain but it didn't take. I can't hit esc to bypass it. I tried to hit f8 but it doesn't bring me to the start up options menu.

Also even though I've removed all refs to keyboard and mouse in device manager (in safe mode) I've still got control if I boot in safe mode again, and of course I can't re-install that hardware in safe mode. And also re-installing from scratch with the recovery disk still gives the same problem.

I can't log in as *anyone*, including root under the GUI login screen for Mandrake 8.1. X just keeps restarting, and I keep getting the GUI login screen. Whee. One reason why I hate the graphical login screen. Though I guess you'd be up the same creek if you couldn't log in from a tty. messed up).

Anyway, my G5 is freezing on startup when it reaches the login window. I tried inserting DiskWarrior to repair the directory. However, I can't get the computer to boot with it. I finally got the computer to get past the login once and was able to optimize first and repair permissions with Onyx.
