can t get past logon

just installed 5384 and every time i try to logon, the logon closes and sends me back to the logon screen.....any idea how to fix this?

Try just hitting enter for the password.

i've tried everything: inserting my old operating systems boot disk, the vista boot disk, booting in safe mode....i don't know what to do

Consider reinstalling on the assumption that if this did not go right other stuff probably didn't either.
